Sci-fi’s 10 Hottest Witches
When I was a kid the original Star Trek was in constant syndication just like Gilligan’s Island and Bewitched. Sci-fi was at the birth of it’s infancy and along side space and science were witches. They pop up everywhere in video games and comic books, they have become synonymous with Snow White’s vain queen and every other evil villain woman we have come to know. They are always bold, powerful and intelligent. Witches in sci-fi rule and there is a reason why. Here is the top 10 women to become the hottest witches in sci-fi.
No. 10 Elizabeth Montgomery
Because it’s Elizabeth Montgomery, duh! Bewitched. She’s the first independent strong witch that had to battle two different Daren’s, her husband. Her insane mother (Agnes Moorehead) an insatiable witch, her extravagantly gay uncle and Dr. Bombay. While trying to conceal her identity as a witch from the neighbors she managed to give birth to Tabitha. Tabitha would become a comic book and finally a cartoon. The two things sci-fi loves not to mention her identical twin, Sabrina.
No. 9 Cher
The Witches Of Eastwick.
The goddess of rock that has persisted through the 60’s, 70’s,80’s,90’s, and the 2000’s and 2010’s, played a witch. Three single women in a picturesque village have their wishes granted , at a cost, when a mysterious and flamboyant man arrives in their lives and the rise and fall of three powerful women discover along the way, they are witches. Directed by George Miller, from a John Updike novel together with Michael Christoffer, staring Jack Nicholson, Cher and Susan Sarandon. The goddess of rock placed herself in the genre of sci-fi in a single swipe almost like she knew what was coming.
Sabrina The Teen Age Witch.
Because she was funny, sexy, quirky and fit the roll perfectly. I’m not sure any of you have read enough Archie comics to know the difference or not. If not let me insure you, Caroline Rhea was the perfect aunt. With a lot of help from her gorgeous costar Beth Broderick, they would become the next gen comics and cartoons to follow in the steps of bewitched and Archie Comics.
No. 7 Kaley Cucco
As one of the last sisters in Charmed, at first was a hated enemy then became one of the three, Kaley Cucco landed the right role at the right time. (See our post From Nerds To Pimps.) Charmed threw her into the sci-fi genre. From there she became a prominent star in The Big Bang Theory. A geek culture goldmine of symposium. Penny is as embedded in the deep web as you would want to go, unless your a super sci-fi geek? Then you might find she already ranks with the likes of Emily Watson and Jennifer Lawrence. Nice job Kaley!
No. 6 Rose Mcgowan
Well lets see, she dated Marilyn Manson, was in that one bad ass movie (Bio-Dome), then became a Halliwell. then did another bad ass movie (Grindhouse). Not to Mention Rose McGowan IMDb. If ever someone is going to become a sci-fi maiden, Rose McGowan will lead the pack.
5. Alyssa Milano
Not every little boy got to grow up with Alyssa Milano, but the ones who did were given a special treat. Alyssa starred as Phoebe Halliwell in Charmed and touched the world. Mermaid, goddess, witch, love writer, the little girl from Who’s The Boss grew up and got hot. Portraying a successfully woman, Phoebe Halliwell taught America what a modern tale of every possible combination of fantasy could be contrived. And every conceivable fantasy involving Alyssa Milaon became true. #fantasymaker
4. Jennifer Coolidge
The White Bitch. The one who taught so many young women how to do the “snap” in Legally Blonde, was Stifler’s mom and is a reincarnation of the Gabor sisters on Two Broke Girls. The stunningly hot Jennifer Coolidge that the internet can’t get enough of.
3. Fairuza Balk
A newcomer to a Catholic prep high school falls in with a trio of outcast teenage girls who practice witchcraft and they all soon conjure up various spells and curses against those who even slightly anger them. Fairuza Balk has always been the dark side of when insanity makes sense as an actor. Her passion for the character she is portraying is remarkable. If the Academy awards were influenced by sci-fi, Fairuza would have won long ago.
2. Holly Marie Combs
Because three sisters who’s mother is a ghost and happen to be witches need a physical mother, especially when your sisters are Alyssa Milano, Rose McGowan and Shannon Dorehty. Piper Halliwell was always the voice of reason, the one to marry her forbidden white lighter and give birth to a warlock/white lighter. Holly Marie Combs handled her role like a queen witch mother that all others in the future will be forced to bow to.
1. Melissa Joan Hart
Sabrina, the Teenage Witch
An American sitcom based on the Archie comic book series of the same name. The show premiered on September 27, 1996, on ABC to over 17 million viewers in its “T.G.I.F.” line-up. Melissa Joan Hart was the quintessential typical girl next door witch that made the last of television worth watching. Her hotness is elusive and captivating, she’s also on twitter. Has a book out and a T.V. show Melissa and Joey on ABC Family.
Because comic books and witches and sci-fi and stuff. Sci-fi’s Ten Hottest Witches.
